Classroom Ethics That Students Must Adopt During Lecture

Classroom Ethics
The responsibility of maintaining classroom ethics relies both on the teacher and the students. The teacher is a self-directed ethical agent; and the student is in the process of learning and becoming autonomous. According to studies a student’s ethical experience of a classroom can be found in companionship and reliability, and the lack of any one of these results in student’s ethical misbehaviors, cheating and bullying. There are four main components which identify the quality of ethics in a classroom. These components are ethical sensitivity (including race, bigotry, and diversity); ethical verdict and religious disputes; ethical incentive and a plea for self-sacrifice, acquiescent teachers’ ethical actions. Classroom ethics are not developed by the teacher alone. In fact the strong moral identity and the strong teacher student bond are responsible for ethical behavior of student during classroom lectures.
  • Devotion and Organization: As told by experts of a dissertation help firm, first of all the most important thing require form every student is active listening. Not all students are active learners. Most of the students are drowned in a sea of sound and disruptions from media. Therefore the classroom must be a remedy. When students learn from others through active listening they develop a space to think.
  • Concentration and Attention: This is the most significant starting point for learning. Ethical behavior entails that each person in the classroom practice esteem and well-being of others as a dominant stimulus for learning.
  • Neutrality: Students expect an instructor to treat everyone in the class equally. Few professors intentionally favor certain students over others, but it is probably impossible not to like some students more than others. Differences in liking may foster differences in interactions, such as allowing certain students to dominate discussions. Even subtle differences in how students are treated may lead to perceptions of partiality where none exist. To avoid giving the impression of partiality, carefully monitor your behavior and interactions with all students.
  • Respect: Respect involves treating fellow students politely and respectfully. Mocking a student or calling a student's bad name is inappropriate in all situations.
  • Concern for Others: A student should care about the efforts of a teacher that he or she is making for you. A student should also show concern for other fellow students as well. You also can express concern by sharing notes with other student, or teaching weak students those subjects in which you are best.
  • Integrity: Integrity means being reliable and truthful. This implies every student to be fair in doing their assignment, projects, quizzes and exams. They should avoid any unethical or illegal means(plagiarism or cheating) for getting marks.
  • Modesty: Modesty means acting in a socially adequate manner that does not insult other students' feelings.

Some More Etiquette:
Coming late to the lecture is the worst attitude adopted by many students. When you are late you not only miss some part of lecture but you create disturbance for others as well. If you have any question or you want to answer you must think before speaking. You must complement each other and address our classmates and teachers with gentleness and respect. You should talk directly to a person whom you have conflict with instead of exaggerating the issue. Work industriously in class. Don’t use abusive language or involve in personal matters of others. Listen attentively and quietly to the students who are speaking in class. While answering or asking question stands so that you get noticed. Remember that everything told during lecture is a contribution and has importance.

Role of a Teacher in an Ethical Environment of a Classroom:
Teachers should encourage ethical behavior in the classroom during lectures. A teacher must devote suitable time to create and strengthen ethical beliefs with his or her students. If these beliefs are perfect and believed, they will help you over some difficult days during lecture. The intention of every teacher should be benefiting their students.

Some students make lectures difficult due to their non-serious attitude, others seem unprepared to learn and some others are chronically absent. The efforts for trying to teach students who lack motivation are not less than a burden. But whatever a condition is a positive and ethical response is always demanded from a teacher. A teacher should treat all students equally. Listen to them and don’t ignore them.

The Bottom Line:
Ethical problems are frequently seen in terms of absolute misuse of control or freedom. Conversely, where fairness is apprehensive, many behaviors that students may bluntly exhibit on daily basis may be perceived quite differently by others.
